Who is Antique & Surplus Auto Parts (ASAP)?

ASAP is an Internet-based retailer of obsolete and surplus new parts for European cars. Occasionally, it also sells rare/unusual used or slightly damaged parts. ASAP specializes in Mercedes-Benz and BMW models from the 1950’s through today. It also carries some pieces for Audi, Jaguar, Porsche, Saab, VW, and Volvo.
Inventory varies depending on what parts ASAP finds available for purchase, including:
Ø drive train rebuild (engine, transmission, etc.)
Ø electrical
Ø maintenance/tune-up
Ø small body and interior pieces (especially molding and trim)
ASAP began operations in 2002, but its principals operated a Mercedes-Benz/BMW salvage yard for nine years prior to ASAP’s opening. Their backgrounds give them a unique understanding of interchange—which parts fit which cars. They try to provide this interchange information with any part offered for sale. Such application data is not normally available from Internet sellers. It is derived from the experience of ASAP personnel and their research of current and historical reference materials. Provision of more than a simple part number is particularly critical for antique parts, whose numbers may have changed (been superceded) many times since model introduction.
Please note that any interchange information provided is not perfect. It is based on research of the best reference materials available (based on Mercedes Benz Microfiche, original and reproduction dealer Parts Books). However, exceptions to any rule do exist, due to:
Ø Manufacturer design changes/improvements during a model’s production run.
Ø Vehicles uniquely specified by the original buyer.
Ø Owner modifications after original sale.
Ø Transfer of cars from original country of origin, that is, “Gray Market”/European cars.
For any of its advertised parts, ASAP offers to check reference materials for fit to your specific Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), email your VIN to ASAP along with the part number advertised to take advantage of this service. . Email VIN Check
